Sandie Proctor, Marie Wanke and I have been meeting and planning the Sept. 16 ALL YEARS CLASS REUNION at the Middle School. Sandie and Ken Proctor are sending their oldest boy Scott, off to Concordia University, in Irvine on Friday, August 18. Those of us parents remember sending our oldest child off to face the big world. Well, it is going to be hard for Sandie and all the rest of you who are experiencing this event in your life but you will survive. Just remember, Your child is excited to go and leave mom and dad behind and launch out on his/her own. Blessings upon Sandie and Ken and Scott and all the rest of you at this time of year.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW:

An article in this weeks Grizzly tells of Nick Cavanaugh pitching professionally with the Lexington Legends, a Class-A farm team for the Houston Astros. After graduating from High School Nick pitched for Redlands University. Now he has moved on to the pros. If you want to read the full article link to: http://www.bigbeargrizzly.net/ Go to the August 16 edition.

I was at the High School the other day and talked to Sharon Bumstead. Michael is now pitching in the Texas Rangers double A and triple A farm system. Blessing upon both these young men as they pursue professional baseball.

Another email:
Dear Dr Waner - It is such a pleasure to get this e-mail. I am Kathy McEntire, formerly Dotts, and I graduated in 1977. I left Big Bear in about 1980, then with the passing of my father in 1992 we sold my parents home in Moonridge and moved my mother here to Washington until she passed in 2000. I have now lived in Lake Stevens Washington for almost seventeen years, and it would remind you of Big Bear in many ways.

I have not received any information from Harris Publication, and would love to be on an alumni list. I am hoping that some of my classmates are starting to plan a 30 year reunion for our class next year, but I have not heard anything yet. I am planning on attending the all school reunion in September, and look forward to seeing many familiar faces.

Thank you for all of the great news that you send with your newsletter - it is always a pleasure to read.

Looking forward to September - Kathy McEntire

High School Alumni Directory

The Steven G. Mihaylo/ Big Bear High School Education Foundation is in the process of putting out a Big Bear High School Directory. The Harris publishing company will be contacting all alumni of Big Bear High and asking if you want to participate in the directory. You do not have to purchase a directory to have you name added to the directory data bank. Our High School has never had an alumni directory and this has been a major undertaking of the SGM/BBHS Education Foundation for the past year. Be sure and return the information requested from Harris publishing. If you do not receive any correspondence by August 25, please let me know and we will be sure to add you to the mailing.
