Several classes had great reunions this past week end. The class of 1958, 1988 and 1998 enjoyed seeing each other and sharing good thoughts.

Ed Stalcup Remembered

More than 400 people crowded into the Northwoods Hotel for the Ed Stalcup memorial in August. Alumni from the past 50 years were present. There were many laughs as "Ed Stories" were shared by the participants. A wonderful reception followed at the Stalcups residence on Gilner Point. Ed left many fond memories especially the "Friendly Pierres", his coaching football, volleyball and golf. One half of the audience was former students and the warm feeling toward Ed was overwhelming. The family was appreciative of the outpouring of love at the service and at the reception. Ed was one of kind that to know him was to love him. Ed will be sorely missed.

Ryan Hall in Olympics

I hope you celebrated with all of Big Bear at the running of Ryan Hall in the Marathon at the Olympics. The convention center was packed and cheering wildly as the large screen showed Ryan coming into the Olympic stadium in Beijing. He ran a great race and finished 10th. He has been a real tribute to Big Bear and to his family. His wife Sarah ran in Spain the next week in a women's race. What an experience for Big Bear!!! Thank you Ryan and Hall family. You made us proud.

We have just learned that Bob Warriner, popular Music Teacher at Big Bear Middle School has passed away at his home. Services were on Saturday, September 27, at the Community Church. Bob's orchestras had as many as 400 students at one time in the 70's and 80's. Many, many students were touched by his encouragement to learn an instrument. Bob has been retired for more than 20 years. He was a great role model for students and faculty. He will be missed.
